The art of listening

If Fernandes fails to listen to this, she clearly does not have a brain. The figures speak for themselves.

FACTS: Gallaudet University’s enrollment is 1,913 – consisting of 1,274 undergraduates, 466 graduates, and 173 professional studies students.

So how do a few hundred protestors represent any majority there ? 25% of whom were reputed as NOT students but deaf activists bussed in. These were deaf people, not, deaf students.

I suggest you go and read the 1988 DPN Manifesto / take on this protest. Gallaudet is much more than a place for students, even in the physical sense. Many speaking out include alumni.

The campus protest yesterday consisted of 1000 people. Students have been protesting, it has been a long drawn out battle lasting months, thus you cannot expect every student to be there at each hour. Last week's lock down, people had been there several days. Get in touch with those who live on campus before laying down an uninformed opinion.

Just one point, in any protest, you never get 100% of the people protesting.

When people marched in London against the war in Iraq, one million people marched. That means that less than 2% of the British population marched. But they represented a lot of people.

25% is actually pretty big.

Not saying the proesters are right or wrong, but that number is highly significant.

There are claims they are NOT all bona-fide students. As for uninformed, well, me and 85% of the world's media too, so your gallaudet blogs are incorrect too ? another source of information we have used ? State how you will, this protest is lost to world deaf. we will never support students hiring staff or demanding deaf credentials, it's immoral use of our rights. Now you know, why the UK will NEVER have a deaf uni. No matter HOW these protesters manipulate the net and such, we can make up our own minds thanks. No deal.
