Gallaudet has named Robert Davila as interim President. There is also a video of the announcement in English and ASL. Video is nearly 44 minutes, rather lengthy but they are communicating with national and possibly international stakeholders in the university.
From the video announcement, they recognise the international interest in the university. Maybe they did read all those open letters?
Its a shame UK organisations aren't following suit, where's the online videos of major events and announcements?

Just thought I should point out that at least for the BDA - they do produce a BSL video for all of their PR and annoucments etc.
