Yes comment!

English translation for non-BSL users:
Another vlog from me in such a short time! I’m doing well… better keep it up!

I just wanted to post about commenting on blogs. Lots of Deafies like this blog and keep mentioning how they think Alison makes sense and all that, but mostly face-to-face, on MSN, via email or whatever. That’s all really nice and everything, but can we try and change tack, and use the comment box more?

It would be really cool if you’d click ‘comments’ at the bottom and reply after reading or watching a blog/vlog. That way, other people can join in too and get discussing things. It’s great! Discussion is what we want. Plus, all bloggers love comments – they make us feel loved and warm inside – if no-one comments, we feel a bit sad and ignored (!)

I’ve noticed more and more British Deaf people are blogging, which is fab, but I’ve also noticed that some bloggers seem to stop blogging, and I think it’s partly because no-one comments. So, I’m going to try and leave more comments on other people’s blogs (you can leave critical comments too, you don’t have to be nice!), in the hope that we can all interact a bit more and discuss things together. That would be good.

So come on and comment! It’s good for the soul!

Jen

Hello! Pah to see your face!! I thought all along you were a guy and old!! LOL! You surely surprised me!! It is fascinating watching you signing BSL and it surely allows me to learn some signs. I really want to extend my warm welcome to you deaf Brits in this blogosphere and I look forward to learn your perspectives on deaf related issues.

You made a valid point about the purposes of v/blogging which is to promote discussion in discourse by sharing our comments. That is the fun part of v/blogging and I know it is not fun if you don't get any feedback. I feel that us v/bloggers do have a responsibility which is not only to post our v/blogs but to leave comments on others as much as possible but again it depends on the level of interest and time opportunity.

"Do unto the others as the others do unto you." :-)

I don't know if I am European addict because of what is true or because of myths in Hollywood but I especially how you end your vlog. It reminds me of the elegance of European people, haha!
Don't mind me :). I love Europeans.
Glad to see you finally :), hope to see your around more and learn more of BSL because it is so interesting!

hiya...

cool vlog! now you can put a little flag on milwaukie, oregon in usa. i can barely understand your bsl. i have hard time reading british fingerspellings. transcript helps alot! english is not too different but signs surely are. where are your british friends? you got too many enemies. lol...

h...

Hi!

Every time I see BSL or AUSLAN on vlog, I get excited to watch! I used to live in Australia and England so I hate to forget how to use these beautiful languages. I need to practice again.

You are right about comments, I am trying my best to keep up with leaving comments on all b/vloggers but it is not easy. I have a full time job and doing my own b/vlog as well.

I promise I will try my best! :-D

Look forward to see more of your videos!

Nice vlog! Thanks for the transcript...BSL is cool but I've got my hands full ;-) learning ASL at the moment. I have to laugh, I also thought you were some crotchety older guy!

Yes, I agree comments are the lifeblood of a blog...although honestly if you only blog for the comments, you'll be disappointed eventually: so many blogs, so little time. I try to blog for myself, that way I can keep going. It's tough though, cos comments are the fun part...

yippi! I understood all your BSL in your video! And I didn't cheat by reading your English translation! :-) :-) lol...
But still have hard time to understand the fingerspell...need to practice more...

Anyway, I've been reading your vlog since your hair was short, but I don't always comment... I don't think I have anything interesting to say, I guess. But maybe I should comment more from now on...

I look forward to see more of your vlogs! :-)

Hear hear, J (!). Here's my little contribution.

Btw, will it ever be possible to comment in BSL? Hmm ...

Rob Wilks,

That's something I'm working on for my blog. Will inform you as soon as soon as it's possible to do so.

G.O.D - it's good to see such an international audience viewing this blog.

However you forgot to mention one another thing...

You need not just comment...you can also make use of trackbacks or pingbacks as well as linking to "spread the word" so to speak - this is an excellent way of finding other blogs that are related to the post itself.

Cheers

Here's my "comment"

JGJones, a BSL post with BSL comments.. - yes, please - that'd be SO FUN

There's already an MT plugin for video comments, something we want to get installed on this blog.

As the other author around here, am LOL at being perceived as a grumpy old man. :-D Yes, I need to actually show my face and vlog.

Here is my comment::: My blog is better that yours!!! ;-P

Jen, you looked too cheerful - get the grump back! :-) BTW, broadband back on at home so will look into establishing my blog on www.saltbar.co.uk

Trackback and pings is bit beyond me at mo - I need someone to draw me a diagram!!! [as I am getting older, newer concepts are getting harder to grasp.....'elp....]

Hi, I enjoyed watching your vlogs. As soon as I learned alittle of BSL, I began to pick some of your signs. Reading BSL's fingerspellings is the most difficult part for me! I hope I will be able to sign BSL very well someday, so, I can post more comments for you. :)
