Hilarious!

Go here. Says it all.

Wonder if it was for a catalogue of condoms, to stop you having deaf babies ("RNID does not support the selection of a deaf embryo for IVF implantation where a hearing embryo is available")?

And to think they churn ~£50 million smackers per annum, to look after us and again:

to promote and encourage the prevention and mitigation of deafness and the better treatment, education, training, employment and welfare of people who are deaf or hard of hearing .... to promote, safeguard and protect the welfare of such people

You must be prevented, but at the same time let all those 100k salaries care for your welfare! We pretend to do equal rights too, telling the government this and that, representing you all without consultation / telling you what's happening. But on the same coin want to get rid of you.

Also, just ignore the fact we can't get our own house in order. Deaf senior managers at our organisation, or rather a lack of, let's brush that one under the carpet. 100% hearing SMT, and a BoT not that far behind. Hearing CEO. Hearing Chair. So what?

Mixed messages? No! You're simply imagining it. All whilst you're lapping it up on benefits, because lets keep you in your place and justify our existence.

Priorities beautifully aligned, society at its zen. Ahhhh!

Here endeth the lesson

Oh, for heaven's sake. You'd think they'd have learned by now. However, it IS interesting in that they quite possibly think a) only HEARING people will buy stuff from them to Help The Deaf; b) DEAF people won't notice cos deaf aren't interested in the RNId anyway(!); and c) the whole thing is run by hearing people who haven't a clue. Evidently.

So by conclusion: deaf people aren't interested in the RNId, who aren't interested in deaf people either. Deafies = want peace. RNId = want ££s.

Sigh!

Dear Alison,

For goodness' sake, you're DEAF!! What do you know?! We at RNID know that you deaf people are not really that intelligent and NEED our oppers...erm...I mean help holding your hand. This is why we have made sure we have no deaf managers etc.

But hey, we do employ deaf people. Our toilets have never been so clean before. They're SO suited to these kind of jobs - we know best for you.

You also need to know that we represent 7 million deaf and hard of hearing people in UK. For example - older people who have lost their hearing have different needs from you and we have to think of them too.

(PS to any older people reading this and want to say we're not - hey, you need to know that we represent 7 million deaf and hard of hearing people in UK. For example - people with tinnitus)

(PSS to any tinnitus sufferers saying we're not, you need to know that we represent 7 million deaf and hard of hearing people in UK. For example - people who have lost their hearing in accidents)

(PSSS - to anyone that lost their hearing in accidents saying we're not, you need to know that we represent 7 million deaf and hard of hearing people in UK. For example - Deaf people with BSL as their first language)

(PSSSS - to Deaf people with BSL as their first language saying we're not, you need to know that we represent 7 million deaf and hard of hearing people in UK. For example - older people losing their hearing)

(PSSSSS - to older people and others, just read the above for goodness' sake as you need to know that we represent 7 million deaf and hard of hearing people in UK. This is why we cannot have deaf people in SMT, you're too thick to understand that and we need MORE money to help you poor sorry bastards)

(PSSSSSS - I do so love those divide and conquer tactics...)

Have a nice day, and we will send our representive around to your place to break your kn...erm...re-educate you on the wonderous way of RNID.

Yours,

JGJones
No wait...I mean...err...whathisname...Garry!

I line up deafies on a wall and sing ten deafies sitting on the wall, I shot one now there are nine.... la, la, la

Is there a responsible adult in the house....? I find the responses rather childish.

The sarcasm in my post, was extremely deliberate and rather intentional - to match the ultimate irony (or sarcasm) that comes with a deaf charity offering free radios. The sad thing being, its not substance of fairy tales.

One can try many tactics to get the point across around the mask of benevolence in operation, and simply generally not getting; however there's only so many ways a point can be made.

I think JGJones, amidst the humour, has a very valid point about 'divide and conquer' - that is precisely what RNID are doing.

I also note their stated objects, quote 'the better...training, employment and welfare of people who are deaf or hard of hearing.' If they really believed in our 'better employment' how come they don't train us up for any of the better jobs on their home turf?

They're all talk while they use deaf people to enrich themselves.
